As reported on Friday, Lionel Messi’s contract with Inter Miami and Major League Soccer had not yet been finalized and was going through the legal process now. According to Tenorio, Messi’s contract is in the “final stages of the legal process.”
In a move that is expected to revitalize football in the United States and South Florida with one of the most well-known athletes in sports, Messi announced on June 7 that he will play for Inter Miami.
Messi arrived in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday with his wife and kids in club, and the club had just confirmed the arrival ceremony, dubbed “The Unveil,” which will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the team’s DRV PNK Stadium.
The ground has also been being prepared for his arrival by Inter Miami. To replace Phil Neville as manager, the squad signed Gerardo Martino, who had previously worked with Messi at Barcelona and with the Argentina national side. Sergio Busquets, a legend of Barça, is very likely going to be reestablishing contact with his old teammate.
When Inter Miami broadcast a training video on Twitter on Friday afternoon instead of announcing the signing of the Argentinian soccer great, fans became a little disappointed. Messi is expected to play his first Major League Soccer match for Inter Miami on July 21 at home.
