Bandipur, Nepal Hidden Gem in Nepal

Bandipur, Hidden Gems of Nepal

The beautiful Newari-style village of Bandipur is a place where time seems to have stopped. In this area, you won’t encounter mass tourism or aggressive salespeople. Because motorized cars are not permitted in the village, it is peaceful and the houses from the 18th century are carefully preserved. I’ll include all the essential information about Bandipur in Nepal in this trip guide. What you can do, where to dine, and which hotels are the best in the area.

In the past, Bandipur served as a significant trading hub between India and Tibet. The village is modest, yet it is filled with lovely lampposts, flowers, and trees. We are strangely reminded of Hanoi in Vietnam by this place. There are also lovely old-style structures to be found there. However, Bandipur is considerably less touristic than Hanoi.

Trek to the village of Ramkot

Five kilometers separate from Bandipur from the village of Ramkot. One has the distinct impression of traveling back in time while here (even more than in Bandipur). Within the little yards of the houses, there are goats and hens. The majority of homes are made of wood and clay, and the locals cheerfully greet you with “Namaste” as the corn dries over the gutter. In addition to the settlement, Ramkot itself is worth the hike as well because it is so picturesque. You can see white Himalayan peaks in the distance as you stroll over the mountain slopes while passing by verdant valleys and rice farms.

Trek to Siddha cave

There are many caverns in the Bandipur region. The Siddha cave is the largest and is 500 meters deep. You can walk there in an hour and a half from Bandipur, usually while enjoying stunning valley views. The caves themselves are enormous and rather slick inside, even in walking shoes. A 45-minute guided tour is available for Rs 200. If you’ve been to (large) caverns previously, it probably won’t seem all that remarkable. It’s lovely to see, especially if it’s your first cave. Since you will always be hiking higher on the way back, it is an excellent workout (and we actually found the hike itself more fun than the caves).
